Why Do Consumer Choose Halal Brand : Eco-friendly and Sustainable

There are many reasons why consumers choose halal products, which are made with ingredients and methods that comply with Islamic law. Some of the main factors are:

Religiosity: Consumers who have a strong religious belief and commitment are more likely to follow the halal guidelines and choose products that are certified as halal. According to a study by Arham et al. (2012), religiosity is a significant predictor of intention to choose halal products.

Quality: Consumers who perceive halal products as having higher quality, safety, hygiene, and health benefits are more likely to prefer them over non-halal products. A study by Alwi et al. (2022) found that content quality has a positive influence on consumer buying behavior for halal products.

Tayyab: Is an purification of process of product and ingredient  by certified body in compliance to Halal Standard and Shari’ah. Quality assurance ensure product fit to consumer health, skin and beauty.It wholesome and good for health and mind. It is recommended for everyone who have health-conscious lifestyle.

Awareness: Consumers who are aware of the halal concept, the benefits of halal products, and the availability of halal options are more likely to choose them. A report by Kerry (2021) stated that the global product launches with halal claims increased by 19% from 2018 to 2020, indicating a growing awareness and demand for halal products.

Diversity: Consumers who appreciate the diversity and variety of halal products from different regions and cultures are more likely to choose them. Halal products are not limited to meat, poultry, and seafood, but also include confectionery, bakery, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and more. A Forbes article by Fox (2021) highlighted some of the brands that offer halal products in different categories

What is Halal Food ?:

Halal is a dietary law derived from Islamic teachings, meaning “lawful or permitted.” On the contrary, foods that are not considered halal are considered haram or “not permitted.” Because there are many culturally diverse places worldwide, with more to develop over time, it’s important to cater to a wide range of people and their dietary needs. This means it is essential to consider including halal food on your menu or at your next get-together. Being mindful of specific dietary needs allows you to meet the needs of a diverse population so that others do not feel left out. 

Halal is not just all about dietary restrictions. It’s also about the treatment of animals, specifically with how they are slaughtered. Halal food must be prepared with minimal suffering to the animal and the pronouncement of God’s name during the slaughter, as the animal is being sacrificed to Him. 

In addition to including more specific dietary-friendly items on your menu, it’s also important to consider individualistic perspectives on religious practices and culture. This could include approaching local Muslims about what they want to see introduced on your menu and the best practices for preparing halal food.

The Islamic law has provided certain rules and regulation in order to conduct business and serve client as per to Shariah law. Halal Services are excluding RIBA (interest), unlawful services such gambling, unethical practices that do not permit by Shari'ah law are consider to be Haram services, those are ethical practices, honesty, integrity and benefit the society and environments are permissible called Halal services without physical goods. such as digital, consultancy, education, medical, tech. Services brands those are fall into permissible ground of Shariah requirement such as Islamic finance, recreation, media, lifestyle are considered Halal services beyond foods. Consumer intent to choose Halal services due to trust, integrity and faith value.
